go-round again (2015)

I love solving puzzles and perhaps for that reason I have always been attracted to counterpoint. I revel in navigating a canon or fugue, discovering its boundaries through composition, while at the same time being completely free to wander the whimsical landscape of pitch and rhythm.

The material from go-round again is derived from an earlier work that I wrote for piano I was excited to take that material and find a new puzzle to solve, in 4-hands. possible for one. While I love taking a piece for two people and reinventing it to be playing the 4-hands version with my this case friends, this solo version feels like a walk alone with my thoughts, wandering where my imagination takes me. go-round again is dedicated with great appreciation to The Cliff Dwellers Art Foundation in Chicago, IL.
